Dr. Nelson Hui has always had a passion for science and art. While attending undergraduate school at Washington University in St. Louis, he discovered that dentistry combines both of these passions perfectly. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in Finance, Dr. Nelson was offered the prestigious Dean’s Scholarship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine.
Following dental school, Dr. Nelson moved back to home to Texas to practice dentistry and obtained a wide range of clinical experiences, from reconstructing smiles with cosmetic veneers at his startup dental practice to re-establishing health by providing dental services to the underserved pediatric population. Upon realizing how much he loves working with children and playing an active role in compassionately and positively shaping their dental experiences, he decided to pursue a specialty in pediatric dentistry at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital after being in practice for nine years. While in pediatric dental residency, Dr. Nelson was selected by his attendings to be the Lead Resident and subsequently the Chief Resident. Dr. Nelson is board-certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Additionally, he is an avid proponent of minimally invasive dentistry and strongly believes in meeting children where they are.
When Dr. Nelson isn’t thinking about dentistry, he enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. He is also passionate about playing the piano, writing music, and taking care of his furbaby Yorkie, named Thor.
